- Sexual Battery

If it is charged as a capital felony, it carries a sentence of life in prison and a fine of up to $15,000. The seriousness of the charge will depend on factors such as whether a weapon was used, if drugs were used to control the victim, and if the defendant has a record of sexual offenses.
- Repeat Sexual offenders
If accused of certain sex crimes two or more times , the offender faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.
- Sex offender designation
All people accused of a sexually related felony are designated as sexual offenders and must follow registration laws.
- Sex offender probation
Sex offenders must obey probation conditions, which can include curfews, restrictions on where they can live and work, and mandatory sex offender counseling.
- Civil commitment
After serving their prison sentence, the state attorney can seek to have a sex offender committed to a civil commitment facility.
